New 2025 Suzuki DF175APX 175 HP Outboard — Drive-by-Wire, 25-Inch Shaft

About this engine

The DF175AP is Suzuki's big-block four: 2,867cc — more displacement than most 200s — in an inline-four with an offset driveshaft that keeps the engine compact and the weight low over the transom. The AP badge brings the flagship technology down to 175 horsepower: Suzuki Precision Control drive-by-wire for shift and throttle that feel telepathic, and Selective Rotation, which lets the same engine run standard or counter-rotation when a twin setup calls for it.

Variable valve timing and Lean Burn control shape the engine's split personality — muscular out of the hole, miserly at cruise — with a 2.50:1 gear ratio turning big-diameter props that suit heavier hulls. At 531 pounds on a 25-inch shaft, it fits the deeper transoms of offshore-leaning bay boats and center consoles.

Our engines are new 2025-built leftovers — previous-season stock, never sold — and we have 12 of them. Leftover status is the buyer's friend: current technology, full new-engine condition, and pricing that reflects the model-year on the crate rather than the hardware in it, here set 22.5% below researched market.

One more platform detail that matters at the dock: the offset driveshaft. By moving the driveshaft forward of the powerhead's center, Suzuki shifts the engine's mass closer to the transom, which improves balance on hulls that sit stern-heavy and keeps the cowling compact enough for tighter transom wells and twin spacing. It is invisible in a spec table and obvious the first time you tilt the engine in a crowded bracket.

Selective Rotation also future-proofs this purchase in a way buyers underestimate: if your boating changes — a bigger hull, a twin rig, a repower of the other side — this same engine can be reconfigured to counter-rotation rather than replaced. Twelve new leftovers will not stay twelve long at this price.

For a single repower that wants drive-by-wire refinement, or twins built from Selective Rotation flexibility without buying two different engines, the DF175APX is the smart-money Suzuki. WhatsApp us to claim yours.
