New Yamaha VF200 LA V MAX SHO 200 HP Outboard Motor

About this engine

The VF200 LA is the sweet spot of Yamaha's V MAX SHO line: the same big-block 4.2-liter V6 that powers the 225 and 250 SHO models, tuned to 200 horsepower and carrying just 529 pounds on the transom. In SHO world, that formula is famous for one thing — acceleration. Owners moving up from smaller fours or older two-strokes consistently say the same thing on the forums: the boat doesn't feel like it gained 200 horsepower, it feels like it lost 500 pounds.

Technically it is all here: DOHC 24-valve architecture, 10.3:1 compression, electronic fuel injection, a 1.75:1 gear ratio and a full-throttle range of 5,000–6,000 rpm. TotalTilt lets you run the trim and tilt through its full range from the remote or the cowling switch, and the up-to-70-amp charging system keeps house batteries fed on electronics-heavy rigs. The 20-inch shaft fits standard-transom bass, bay and flats hulls.

We have 18 of these new engines in stock, photographed in their factory wrap. In the interest of the same honesty we apply to every listing, look at gallery photos 5 and 6 before you buy: they document cosmetic cowling marks — gouges and scuffs shown against a measurement scale — on the photographed unit. They are cosmetic, they are photographed, and they are part of why this pricing is what it is. The engines carry Yamaha's 3-year limited pleasure-use warranty.

A word on why the SHO 200 holds value the way it does: it shares its block, its gearcase architecture and most of its service parts with the 225 and 250 SHO, so parts availability and mechanic familiarity are as good as it gets in the 200 class. The 4.2-liter displacement means the engine makes its power without being strung out — long, lazy torque rather than a peaky delivery — which is exactly what you feel in the midrange when a loaded bay boat needs to climb over a wake or hold plane at minimum speed in a chop.

Buying multiples is straightforward: with 18 new engines on hand, twin and fleet orders can be matched from the same stock rather than assembled from whatever the market happens to hold. Tell us how many you need and how the boats are rigged, and we will confirm the package before you commit.

For a repower, a new build, or a fleet buyer who wants matched SHO power, eighteen identical new engines in one place is a rare opportunity — especially at 22.5% below market. WhatsApp us for the fastest response on single or multi-engine pricing.
